IHMO:
1. only includes US although a lot of translated German stuff is online as well (riding a bike against traffic showed no increased incidence in accidents)
2. i expect the US to be quite road-bike heavy (probably similar to city-bikes in Europe)
3. my institute (25 people and about 15 cyclists: 1 road bike - father was a German frame builder, 5 trekking bikes with bent stem and enclosed trekking bars, 6 city-bikes with dutch-style bars, 4 MTBs) ... the trekking/MTB line is somewhat blurry but we'd consider trekking=bent stem/closed bars
