Your Molteni is absolutely beautiful. Pretty hard to find.
I bet the top and bottom bearings may have been installed wrong. The bigger bearing should be located at the bottom and the small one on top. I noticed a similar sized gap on the bottom cup, except pushed inwards. I'll get it sorted out. Thanks for pointing out about the headset.
