Oh yeah. I'm not sure why it never occurred to me.
I do have calipers, but they are 75 miles away right now and a simple ruler will have to do.
I'll definitely check out a second-hand parts shop (recycle-a-bicycle, perhaps) when I have time. Definitely no sense in spending much on the parts, as I see kids bikes on CL for about that much. I have time, since my nephew is still a tad too young to ride this.
