Trek 6000 project

Hey all, I recently picked up what I believe is a 1991 Trek 6000 at the local bike kitchen.

As it was when I first saw it.

I removed the cheap-o wheels, bars, seat, rd, and shifter.

Next thing to do is to remove the rattle-can (disguise) paint job on half the frame/fork.

To remove the paint I tested out using Zep 45

my dad tried brake cleaner on the chainstays

and gasoline on the seatstays

Brake cleaner works the best, so we'll work with that once we return from our trip.
We'll probably have to get creative with the decals, though, so we don't lose them.
