Attended a presentation at my LBS tonight by the guy guy I refer to in my reports as "Mr. Freaky Fast", who has a chiropractic practice which focuses on athletes. He's 32, and races for Elbowz, a Texas based team. He is definitely a "marginal gains" guy, who pays attention to all the bodies systems. Big focus on (natural) nutrition, down to the PH and filtration methods of the water he drinks. He believes marginal gains, built up over the years, have helped get him where he is. This year he has been on the podium of a few national P-1 races, including Joe Martin, Nature Valley, and most recently Brentwood. He put up a data file from a 2 hour crit held in high heat and humidity: 364w average, and he still had a 1,400w sprint at the end. Whew... Interesting that he did body building in college and weighed 190#. He races at 158. Another interesting point is that he doesn't consider his life to be as balanced as it should, and plans to back off from the racing in a few years in order to achieve a better balance. He doesn't think you can be balanced and stand on podiums at the national level.

Oh, and I won the drawing for a month of free recovery services: recovery boots, hot tub, ice baths..
