It's a zombie thread but coincidentally a few days ago I happened to check out the Microshift set up one of the local Cat 1s is running on his bike. My impressions:
1. The bigger/lower lever reminds me of the original Campy Ergo lever of the same function.
2. The smaller/upper lever is absolutely rock solid, feels like a brand new Campy Ergo lever (he's had the group on for a year+)
3. Overall the feel is closer to Campy Record/Chorus.
The rider is a very strong rider, comes from a cycling family (dad was a Cat 1, grand dad was a pro track racer, great grand dad was a pro track racer), he tolerates no BS, doesn't pretend to need stuff, lets his legs talk for him. He is totally satisfied with the group; his dad also was very impressed, said the group reminds him of Campy or Dura Ace.
If I were to change from my Campy 10s stuff I'd probably go to Microshift before SRAM or Shimano, mainly due to ergonomics. No funky shift pattern a la SRAM and I'm no good with Shimano's lever that happens to be both a shifter and a brake. I suppose I could do Di2 but that's way too costly with no significant benefit in the rear and a dubious one for me up front (I rarely shift the front derailleur when it counts).
If I were giving advice to a rider building a budget bike I'd wholeheartedly recommend Microshift.
