Sure, you can charge "them" anything you want. You'll be reimbursed at the rate "they" have agreed to in your contract or personnel regulations. You won't be fighting with anybody but your imagination and your caseworker.
My company pays 40.5 cents per mile if you use your personal vehicle. My point was that the company should pay out the same regardless of what vehicle is used, even if it is a bike.
