To clarify, the tri clubs can point you to candidates, but it's still up to you to screen them. At least in my area I've found that many road racing coaches also coach traithletes. But you want to carefully vet these coaches to ensure that they have significant coaching expereince with, and a proven track record for, road racing, and aren't primarily tri-focused.
