Just flip that ****! Seriously though, just ride for a while and you'll inevitably get used to it, like a motor reflex. If not, then it's probably not the foot retention for you. Try some other setup. I ride alu MTB platforms with straps. Remove the pins from the side you're putting your straps over and you're good. Also makes a pretty sweet grinding noise when you grind the pedals on curbs.
