Not that anyone asked, but here's how I look at it: Horns are for alerting people to hazards that they otherwise wouldn't be aware of. I'm aware that there will likely be other vehicles on the road. No need to honk. If you do honk, I may be distracted momentarily while I try to figure out what you're honking about. You may think you're providing a courtesy, but you're potentially startling and confusing cyclists, which doesn't exactly add to our safety.
