There is good news here.
I got bent back in November because of spine issues. If you like pain, suffering, and (mainly bad) sensations, here is the good news:
-the first 100 miles on a SWB bent (mine is a Bacchetta Giro) are really, really awkward. You look funny. It's hard to steer. People don't bother to laugh at you because it's so sad. It's really good for the soul, and it aids detachment from all things of ego.
-climbing steep long grades generates a degree of suffering rarely experienced on a safety bike.
-even riding a bent generates pain, just in different areas.
But remember, there is no more sublime feeling than passing someone on their Madone whilst going uphill. It's a nice feeling.
Also, for reasons I cannot possibly explain, bents are babe magnets.
