I hope you have another bike to ride in the meanwhile! Hopefully, you won't have to wait too long to get another set of tires.
Fortunately I have my Cinelli SC to fall back on. I just like my De Rosa better. I feel like a spoiled ass when I look at those words.
I might start saving the rough stuff for my Kelly. That sidewall rip/bulge on my De Rosa front tire probably would not have happened if I had stayed on the pavement. Although, that tire was old and dry; well past its prime. I feel frugal for wringing those miles out of it.
Southpawboston's comment regarding flats and D2R2 gives me pause as well. I know a guy who did it on a Grandis with 23mm tires, but he is super hard core randonneur/ brevit rider. If I do it next year I'll probably use the Kelly.
