Rowan has all the bike tools so he'll have to answer that question. We've got a first aid kit - a small commercial one, plus some extra bits and pieces like bandaids and Ozonol. And we do have medical insurance of course. As for other medical aid, most places have pharmacies and we've picked up stuff as we go along. In Japan, for example, we had to pick up stuff to sooth the itching and soreness of bug bites. That was a bit of a challenge, given that there was nothing in English ... we had to go by pictures on the packaging.

I've taken several First Aid courses as well, so I have some idea what to do in case of minor medical situations.

In this case, the scrapes are quite minor, but the bruising is fairly extensive, and there was some swelling ... so the afternoon after it happened, I spent a couple hours lying in bed with my legs elevated slightly. And in the process, I fell asleep ... which was probably also a good thing.
