Advice - don't get so hung up on the events of the day that you forget the bike is on the roof of the car. Especially when pulling into the garage.
Fortunately, the Stylus encountered no other damage. But the feeling in the pit of my stomach when it happened is another story.

There is a simple way to avoid it. After you pull out of garage, before mounting the bike on the rack when leaving for a ride, put something big on the way back in, close to the garage door: garbage barel, chair or something. You have to be outside of the car anyway since you are putting the bike on the rack...When you come back, tired and happy from the ride, even if you forget you will need to step out and remove the object. If you still do not see and remember that the bike is on your car...well...
