Would this not be due to ergonomics and / or geometry? If one is damaging their hands, wrists and arms this much, they surely have their bike set up incorrectly.
The bike shop which sells you the bike in the first place should ensure your stem length, stem height, stem angle, saddle height, saddle angle, saddle position and frame size, was correct before sending you out the door. These injuries just shouldn't be happening.
Simply put, it seems cyclists with severe numbness etc. are putting too much pressure on their hands. My friends and I ride thousands of kms a year, and I have not heard one of them complain about this.
