I would add almost anything that the former Middle Class (now mostly in tatters) once enjoyed and taken for granted will be hard to come by now and in the foreseeable future. This is no major new development as it has been happening all along for almost 40 years-yes you read right, 40 years. We are now a 2 class country-the independently wealthy & and just poor-the Middle Income range now considered to be simply unavailable (exported better paying jobs overseas or no longer in existence) for most of the population. The rich live well with all what modern society has to offer and the poor, well, just get by at best, on the street getting taken advantaged by another poor person a bit better off.

What does this mean for us here on Living Car Free? How about the crucial difference and choice between riding a bike because you must and have to-vs. riding because you want to, happily get on your bike even in extreme conditions and that is the best of both worlds.
