I just want to emphasize what what someone else said about not overtightening your headset. When you pick up your bike, your front wheel should look like it can swing freely from left to right.
If you suspect it is too tight, loosen the bolts, loosen to bolt on the top cap. Slightly tighten the bolt on the top cap just enough to make sure that you get rid of any excess "play". Hold the front brake and rock your bars back and forth to see if everything is held down well without any space left. Do not overtighten this top cap, it will lead to stiffness and could be the cause why the bike does not "automatically adjust" (most noticeable when riding no hands, or doing things such as reaching for a water bottle). It is annoying because it makes you do all the adjusting instead.
After slightly tightening the top cap just enough to push down the stem /spacers etc. without any room left, tighten the other bolts on the stem. No need to overtighten here either. Just give them a good tug. If you pick the bike up by the seatpost, and swing the front wheel, it should now appear to swing freely.
Just making sure it is not just a common thing with the bike rather than something to do with the rider. People tend to overtighten, not understanding how things work or because they are just hurrying without paying attention.
