It can be a decent ride if you replace the steel rims, heavy steel cottered crank, plastic derailers and shifters and replace those cables and housings. That may cost you at least $300 if you do all of the work yourself and it takes special tools. It will still be a low end bike and you'll have $400 in it. I say look for something better and ready to ride.
