Bikes: 1976 Schwinn Super Le Tour, tricked out with modern components. Shimano Alfine 11 internal gear hub. Dynamo hub. Titanium racks and bottle cages. Mercier Kilo Wide Tire dropbar singlespeed

My downtube friction shifters aren't braze-on. They're clamp mounted. So would I need something like this from Harris Cyclery? http://harriscyclery.net/product/ori...alloy-3253.htm

About the cost. Holy smokes. I've spent a fortune upgrading every single part on this bike except the frame. I could have bought a carbon fiber bike, almost. But you know what, it's worth it. I love the old girl and I enjoy tinkering and improving old technology with new. Lots of fun, and still way cheaper than golf, drugs, boozing, and fast women.
