I have bought yet another new bike. I had to get rid of one in order to get the approval to pull the trigger on this one. I sold my Specialized Tarmac Comp for almost what I paid for it in order to make room for my new steed. Although I loved my Tarmac, I was not completely satisfied with it so I had no problem parting with it.
I sold the Tarmac on Friday and stayed up almost all night long researching different bike brands, models and frame material. I woke up early this morning got dressed in my cyling gear and headed out to start test riding. There is one shop in my area that sells everything that I wanted to test ride. I rode the CR1 Team first and immediately fell in love. I rode the Felt F55 second. Even though it was equipped rather nicely, I was not feeling it. I rode the Cannondale Synapse which was another very impressive piece of machinery and went to my list of possibilities. Next I rode the CR1 Pro and basically had my mind made on this one before I even got a half mile from the shop. Lastly I rode a Litespeed titanium framed bike. I don't remember the model number but I was not too impressed with the feel of it either. Earlier in the week I test rode the Fuji Professional which is a very nice bike and was on my list of possibilities.
I feel like I can ride the CR1 Pro forever which I could not do on my Tarmac. We made a few minimum adustments and the bike fits me like a glove. It is equipped with ALL Ultegra 10 and Ksyrium Elite wheels which will be replaced with a hand made set of wheels from ODDSANDENDOS.com next week. I wish I would have been able to test this bike before I ever bought my Tarmac.
The CR1 had a price tag of $3200 but it was on sale for $2500. It was $500 more than I wanted to spend but it was well worth it.
BTW...I won't be "flipping it" for a while. I don't want to disturb something that fits so well.
