Now that I've researched the route more carefully, I would have to urge caution, especially when descending. The advice I've read from some locals is to never let it run because road bike brakes don't have the authority to stop on such a steep grade once your speed is up. Apparently there has been at least one fatality after a 70+ mph descent.
