I just checked out the site for the Great River Ride.
http://newhorizonsbikes.com/site/page.cfm?PageID=161
Since its not until October 9th I may try to get enough long rides in to give this one a go. I ride a 2005 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo with 100psi (Kenda Kwest) slicks on the road so I have plenty of gears. I ride 5-6 days a week but most of my rides are 25 miles or less due mostly to lack of time rather than fitness. How long & how often should I be getting longer rides in before tackling a 100 miler ? I have done metric centuries in the past, (also on an mtb) and even a 100 miler on an mtb too but just not recently. I'm 42 and in pretty good shape....

Thanks again for the info !!

As a bonus, the Great River Ride allows you to visit Peru again!

My regular riding buddy and I have a special contempt reserved especially for Peru. It is just mean to send anybody there late in a ride. (Random fact: www.weather.com does not acknowledge the existance of a town called Peru).
