I have wide feet too and found these shoes to be very comfortably wide; in fact more so than regular store-bought wide shoes. Not only that, but they look good, not goofy and are easy to walk in.

As far as using clipless pedals, I do of course use them, but honestly don't grasp their utility. I have fallen a few times, but I'm over that fear now and no longer think about that aspect at least.
