There are proper fixed gear mountain bikers out there, Fixie Dave does the Tour Divide on a fixed Gear Mountain bike. As for the OP get any SS MTB that's available out there and either get a bolt on cog as suggested above or get a Paul Fixed gear MTB hub which lets you keep your rear disc brake on while providing the proper threads for a fixed gear cog and lockring.
