Trek XO-1 2006 - specs

I just picked up my new 2006 Trek XO-1 last week. I've put in a few hours on it and the bike is fantastic! Coming from a mountain biking background, I'm super-impressed with the speed and fun that this bike gives.

The quality of workmanship and welds is very very nice. I had narrowed my decision to the Redline Conquest and the Trek XO-1, and chose the Trek because the frame and many of the Bontrager components were made in the USA. Before anyone chimes in to tell me that China-made goods are just as good - I'm sure you are correct. However, my USA-made decision has more to do with supporting US workers and the companies that employ them, not the quality of the goods. The Redline has a big "MADE IN CHINA" sticker on the head tube. Trek wins. And I am ok paying the extra few dollars to support American workers and the US economy.

I was doing some searching before ordering and couldn't find any info on '06 specs as compared to '05. Trek did tell me that there would be no spec changes from '05, but that is in fact not 100% accurate. So this post for those that might be looking at the 06 and want the scoop!

--the 2006 DOES NOT come with pedals as the '05 did (05 was spec'd with Shimano 505 spd).

--the 2006 DOES come with the Bontrager Select rims, and Bontrager sealed hubs, as pictured on the Trek site. low spoke count, light weight, and I'll admidt - they look cool!

--the 2006 DOES come with Cane Creek Crosstop inline/bar top levers. I couldn't find these on old specs or locate them in any product photos for the '05 bikes. My guess is that these were added, and pedals dropped, as the cost would be pretty similar.

--the 2006 list price is UNCHANGED from 2005.

I'll post a followup once I've had some more hours on the bike. Again - my initial impressions is that its light, strong and fun as hell to ride!
