I have both road and track bikes. The road bike is BY FAR better for training than the track bike. I only use my track bike for track-specific training and track races. Everything else is done on the road bike.
I know this will probably fall on deaf ears, but: Buy a road bike.
This is because a road bike has gears and makes it heavier to throw.
