Not to be argumentative but since you regard the use of sound as a "long shot" , I wonder if you could expound on your views of using sound in medical diagnostics or oil exploration. Geez, how will I survive the day without you letting me know if I'm about to waste my time?

Your suggestion, is great if you're the owner of a bike shop or repair facility. Let's see, you walk in with the bike and ask, "Is this cracked and if so is it repairable?" I answer, "Yes" on both accounts. Has the OPer really gotten good advice from the "experts"? Or is he just getting advice that will "stimulate the economy "?

I hope the OPer won't be discouraged from making some assessments on his own.
