If I can be gentle in saying so, I would suggest that some feel that no cyclists belong on the street. I don't believe it is my place to judge which cyclists do not belong on the street (save children). My opinion is that it is nearly always a good thing to "bring out" more cyclists, unqualified as they may be. As to the notion that having an unrealistically safe feeling is a plan for disaster, my definition of a disaster is that the increased fatalities and injuries more than offset the benefits of increased ridership. I just don't see it in this case.
