Plus sized mtn bike armour?

Last week I bought my very first mountain bike for winter riding and trail riding.

I figure to be on the safe side, I should get some knee and shin guards and a full face helmet. The full face helmet will be fairly easy to buy but I'm not so sure about the sizing of the knee and shin guards.

Anyone have any experience with larger legs and armour? Any preferable type? Like just for the knee or go for the knee and shin type guards? Any other protective gear for the clumsy and awkward? Seriously, I'm a complete klutz. People who've known me since I was a kid are amazed I'm still around.

I also have a mouth guard on my list. Maybe all this gear is overkill but I've grown accustomed to teeth and skin on my knees.

By the way, I love LOVE my new 14" Jamis Durango 1.0 femme. I've taken it out on short, beginner trails and I am looking forward to ice biking (if we have a winter) and riding dirty trails.
