I'm riding an Allez Triple with the toe clips. I'm building up my distance, and my feet have been reasonably comfortable, although my toes do get tired and start curling and falling asleep at times. The shoes I use don't have firm bottoms, and I'm afraid they're really going to hurt when I start going more than 40 miles.

I've been thinking of going clipless next spring when I have extra money (I just got the bike!), but I've been wondering what I can do in the meantime. I thought I read here that cycling shoes won't work with pedal clips. Is that true?

Any suggestions?
