Do you have car or a way to get to the former Alameda NAS or San Rafael? They have some bike shops in there that sell pretty much only donated stuff. Recylcery in San Rafael had probably a few dozens very usable but ugly bikes for around $100 and basically functioning bikes for less than that. Changing Gears in Alameda is similar, but I think they had more bikes that were fixed up.
