From everything I've heard, these don't grip well in the wet, so might not be the best for the OP based on his description of race conditions.
I've raced crits on those tires, and descended in the Rockies in the rain on them with, without problems. The rain model likely is a better choice specifically for rain, but the EVO CX is fine for all around use.
