Friction shifters work with IGHs, you just need to remember what region on the shifter is which gear. Most IGHs work fine even when the cable pull is slightly off. Sheldon did it and I've done it. Still not the most practical setup.
I figure it won't be ideal but usable with a 3 speed. That is the price you pay for style

Yep the frames come with a rear derailleur hanger so you can change them over if you want. I am very happy with the IGH 3 speed though, this is a bike for cruising around.
