I was given an old Bianchi frame and a box of parts that “may or may not” have come off of it. From the research I did here and online I gathered it’s a late 80’s, 89 I believe, Sport SX. What was attached to the frame are Dia Compe NGC 400 brakes, not sure what kind of brake levers, I couldn’t find any markings on them. Sakae handlebar, Suntour DT friction shifters, Suntour FD, not attached was the Unicrown fork, which is why I think it’s an 89, that and the paint scheme.
In the box of parts were another set of Suntour DT friction shifters, Shimano 105 index shifters, Suntour FD, Shimano Exage FD and a Campagnolo Nuovo Gran Sport RD.
What I don’t have, bottom bracket, crank, crank arms, wheels, rear cassette or freewheel as the case may or may not be. No seat or seat post.
One other thing, the dropout on the drive side has been welded after a break. I was told that it was ridden for years after the weld and it held up well, it does however need a washer between the drop out and the lock nut. I’m not too worried about that, but being a clyde maybe I should be?
My main question is, is it worth it to strip down and rebuild, or is it too low end and too far gone to bother?
Any suggestions and advice will be much appreciated and accompanied with my many thanks.
TL;DR Was given and old Bianchi, should I rebuild it or junk it?
Now for some pictures.
