Some jerk painted over the gorgeous chromed frame on my Univega Alpina Pro.. any tips on how to remove? I've been scratching it off but it takes forever and if you're not careful the clearcoat comes with it. Any suggestions on a solvent I could use? I don't want to damage the clearcoat underneath or the black chrome under the clear coat. I'd also like to not damage the decals or cause them to delaminate/fall off/whatever

I don't know much about removing paint. I'd guess the paint I want to remove is cheap automotive grade paint, but possibly spray paint.
