the decals are on top of the clearcoat from what I can tell, so I think I would lose them if I stripped the paint completely. Admittedly it would probably look pretty sweet totally "debadged" but I dunno..

What is the purpose of clearcoat on chrome anyways? just extra corrosion protection?
