Hello again Deego,
As I mentioned previously, I have a new Trek 7.4FX and it is wonderful. It has an upright riding position but not straight up and down (i.e. 90 degrees) which is really not good for the spine as all forces/bumps go straight up and down. The Trek FX series allows for around 60-70 degrees. Also, picture or try to stand up from sitting on a chair. Do you notice that you bend at the waist? That's because you generate more efficient standing power at that angle. There is more force on the back/spine standing straight up. Well similarly, the same goes for cycling, so being at somewhat of an angle has to be better all around. I can virtually guarantee that a sports medicine doctor would agree.

Good luck in your decision making process.
Best regards
