If it's done with care, why the hate? I don't advacate Drewing but adding an IGH, or in this case a derailleur to an older English Road/Track is no different than builing up a Fixed or IGH out of a frame built for a derailleur. Far better to be loved and ridden than to be a wall hanger!
Well....I don't care if you use the finest, most expensive, saw blade, grinder wheel or torch, and the utmost care of the most skilled surgeon.....BUTCHERY is NOT to be TOLERATED !! Bolt on/off or swapping is perfectly fine though.

BTW- I did not applaud the Flying Scott mod. A piece like that should have been repaired to original specs IMHO.
