I think 'accidents' are unavoidable; otherwise you're dealing w/ a misestimation of risk (or somebody else's bad driving/riding). At least that's what I tell my kids when they get hurt doing something stupid. 'That wasn't an accident, that was predictable'

That said I am extremely unappreciative of smug forum jockeys figuring out how to blame the victim from their own comfy chairs with their perfect hindsight.
