Craigslist...Truth in Advertising?
As I'm slowly looking for a 1980's steel road bike to buy, ride, teardown, and build up I have come into some "very eager" sellers on Craigslist. Twice now, after requesting pictures, I have ended up telling the seller that I was no longer interested. The sellers have then been pushy to the point that they want me to give a reason(s) why I didn't make an offer.
The last bike I got pictures of was advertised as a turnkey, original, great shape, and ready to ride bike. However, the pictures showed lots of rust on the paint and chrome, 2 out of 5 missing rivets on the crank, mismatched rims, a missing front brake cable and missing water bottle cage bolts making me think that water could have entered the frame.
So, my question:
Is it wrong to point out the deficienies in a seller's bike to show that it's not really worth the asking price?
