The Verve replaced the 7xxx line, so it's pretty much the new equivalent to your wife's 7300. From your description it sounds like it would be a good bike for you. The Verve 3 is what you'd want and go for the 4 if you can afford and justify the added expense. I ordered a 3 for my wife to look at and it was a good looking bike. They ended up talking us into upgrading her Navigator to trigger shifters and ergo grips instead of swapping bikes and she's tickled pink with the change. I'd advise you to stay away from the twist shift = Verve 2 or 1 models, plus I think the 3 is the lowest model with an 8 speed rear, so that's your starting point.
