and also forums such as this
if your local shop is friendly
pop in with some questions
tell them you're getting into bikes and working on bikes
usually you'll get some good tips and guidance
be sure to buy something though
to keep it all feeling good there
and update pics are like payment in forums - everyone is a sucker for threads with good pics
edit: should also say there are plenty of good (and bad) vids on the youtube
my fav for a balance of learning and humor are from 'bikemanforu'
