I recently bought the Croix de Fer in 55cm
I am 5'11'' 200lbs.

I've gotten about 6 rides in, a few in the 20 mile range. I am very pleased with the bike. Take that back... I LOVE THE BIKE. I got a 2005 model for $1059 from my lbs. I rode several bikes, including cannondale, specialized roubaix, trek pilot... I thought I wanted to get the Roubaix, as it was the first one I rode. I thought I'd never get a Lemond because of the reputation for long top tubes. In fact, one LBS put me on a 57 lemond and I was too stretched out. The second shop was much better at sizing. It was sort of a goldilocks moment. I rode the lemond last and could only barlely explain why it felt so darn good.

I tow a trailer sometimes with my 3 year old, so steel is nice (carbon isn't recommended for the trailer clamp)

I thought about the Sarthe, but the deal on this one helped make my decision for me.

The bike is a great combo of comfort and speed for me. I'm not a racer, but didn't want to be on a touring bike either. This seeems just right for me. I feel faster than ever, and after a 2.5 hour ride this weekend, I was ready to keep going.

I hope this helps,

Glen
