The winter boots shown in msg #3 were made for DOD (I think) possible brand name is Best Defense™. Yes they are heavy, and ARE comfortable and warm. Weight has nothing to do with foot comfort on a short or long bike commute. It does require more effort, than lighter weight shoes, but the warm toes is all about comfort.

When it is dry cold weather I wear a pair of Raichle GoreTex half boots. Warm and comfortable.
