On the plus side, it's a great workout and not at all mentally taxing; on the down side, it's mentally numbing and I can't hammer it to work then recuperate at the desk.

Still, I can't complain: at least I have a job. Called up a couple of car companies in the area, offered to intern for technical writing in exchange for experience and references. Some of my friends think that's a bit beneath me, but whatever it takes to get your foot in the door, right?

And SA, I'm surprised that you don't own a winter beater; I've been working on mine lately. I will had to admit, though, it's been awhile since I've worked on a mountain bike.
I worked in a warehouse for several years. It was actually quite fun work, and it did help me stay in shape. The only problem is it was mostly upper body strength, and those muscles are just a waste. Extra weight you don't really need on the bike.

I have a winter beater, but I really want to ramp up my time on the bike over this winter, and most of it will be inside. I'm still going to ride outside, but a nice stationary bike would be great, and keep wear and tear off of my other bikes. I have a customer that can get me a Pro-Form TDF at dealer cost. I just wonder how accurate the power meter is. It's either that or a CycleOps with a power meter. This last season was such a waste. The concussion, and the subsequent loss in training sucked. So I just want to train my ass off for a comeback in 2013.
