I recently acquired a nice Eddy Merckx but I cannot pin it down. It has been repainted and the previous owner said that the "Corsa" and Columbus decals are both incorrect. He claims the bike is a Century made from Reynolds 653.

I seem to be missing the drive-side half of the serial number so this site http://www.cadre.org/Merckx/ tells me it is from 1988/89 but not the model.
