I've had drop bars before, for about a year, and I'm not a fan. They were too narrow (44cm), breaking felt very vague from the hoods, and I don't feel in control in sketchy situations like heavy city traffic.

One of these days I may try a wide drop bar like the nitto noodle, but I'd rather try some ergons first. Flat-bar just feels right to me.

For the past few days I have been using bar ends on a riser, set quite a distance below the saddle. I find it very comfortable, I have a few hand positions now and I can get as aero as I can on my old road bike. I also get to run v-brakes, which would require me to use bar-end shifters on a drop-bar.
