Bikes: MTN

Newb

I am a fresh 1 week newb to cycling as a form of exercise. Went out and bought a new mountain bike and some goodies with it.

Motivation: Current girlfriend who is a marathon runner. Certain aspects of manhood came into question . I wont have any of that! Exercise time.

I am not entirely sure how long/far I have been riding each session (only just installed adroid app My Tracks 1 hour ago - after my 2 hour riding session).

Anyways, my first run out I decided to push myself and ride to work (4 stations away, am guessing around 15-25KM or so).

I noticed around 10km into the ride my left pinky and ring finger getting tingly. Right pinky and ring also, but to lesser extent.

After a few daily sessions since then, including this morning I have noticed that at around the 10 km or so mark the tingling sensation returns.

And because of this, I found this thread. I actually read through the whole thing... lots of interesting ideas (I especially enjoyed the part where if we turn to the Dark Side our problems will go away - big star wars fan.)

Anyways, for me (not pro by any means... yet) I believe the combination of being 99kg @ 190cm (bit overweight, but have dropped 4 KG in 1 week due to cycling and diet change), as well as seat being roughly the same vertical height as bars is what is causing it for me.

The shop guy mentioned the shaft thingy that raises the handles being short, and that if i wanted to raise it, I would need to purchase some extra widget or somethin.

So, since I read all you peoples input on OPs post I am now headed to the shop to have them order the shaft extension device (a metal tube I am assuming).

Thanks everyone for the input in this thread, i am sure there are many more who have benefited from reading it - but remained silent. I came here to rectify that situation (1 voice > 0)

Cheers,

Brad
