I am curious as to why there seem to be so many fewer cyclists that participate in races in southern california.
Here is an example.....In Missoula, Montana the population of the entire county is 100,000 people. If you consider that people everywhere often drive up to 2 hours to race, the population for that area be about 200,000 people.
In Palos Verdes, where the race is in my video, if you calculate a 2 hour drive radious, the population would be approx 12 million people.
The cyclocross races in Missoula routinely have 45 people in each category. They race in rain, snow, mudd. In So Cal, I routinely see categories barely getting 8-10 people.
The disparity is confusing.
again, its a different market and So Cal riders would not be comparable with those in Shanghai.
It would be interesting to compare triathletes and triathlons in So Cal with the Montana tri's.
Or how about this: we have Hometown Buffet but how many So Cal foodies frequent that restaurant?
