Cycling club end of season get together - award ideas

I hope this isn't the wrong forum to put this.

The cycling club I'm in is putting together an end of season BBQ and short (~6 mile) time trial, along with a "race" for the kids of members. The event is this weekend. There will probably be in the area of 10-15 members coming, and I'm in charge of end-of-season awards. The intent is mostly to just recognize the riders and give them something to remember, and make it personable if possible (i.e. the guy that always takes care of everyone is "papa bear" and the like). Someone else is doing the "awards" for the time trial.

For the kids I was going to get some little medals or something for those that bring their bikes and ride the course we have.

For the club members I wanted to find some old cassettes and separate the gears and laser engrave our logo and their name on it, with a ribbon (like a medal), but I really don't think I'll have enough time to get that finished by the weekend - and it's kind of expensive. I then had the idea to put together something like a race number like so:

But to put our club name / logo / year at the top, their yearly miles as the race number, and then at the bottom put their name and some term of endearment or something.

My questions are:
  • Is this lame? Would you like it?
  • Most race nubmers I've used aren't paper but have larger, almost more cloth-like fibers. Where can I get that kind of material that can be printed on?
  • It would be nice to recognize the spouses (for those that have them) and gave up time so people could train for races, especially those w/kids. My brain is blank on this one.

Another member was going to help with this, but he just closed on his house 2 days ago and has an extremely pregnant wife so he is beyond busy. It's just me, and yes I'm a huge procrastinator.
